Dr Taylor specialises in the management of disorders of the small bowel, colon, rectum, and anus.
This includes both benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) problems such as:
- Colorectal cancer
- Polyps
- Inflammatory bowel disease including, Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis
- Diverticular disease of the colon
- Haemorrhoids
- Anal fissures, abscesses, and fistulas
- Pelvic floor disorders, including bowel prolapse
- Functional bowel problems such as constipation and incontinence
Waiting times will vary based on Dr Taylor’s availability throughout the year; however, we endeavour to see all patients as soon as possible.
Should you require a procedure, the reception staff will help schedule a suitable time following your appointment.
Yes, you require a current referral for all appointments with Dr Taylor.
Note:
A referral from a General Practitioner (GP) is valid for 12 months.
A referral from another specialist (e.g. Gastroenterologist) is valid for 3 months.
Please bring the following items to your first appointment with Dr Taylor:
- Your current referral
- Medicare card
- Private health fund details
- Any previous scans and reports related to the reason for your appointment
If you have private health cover, there will likely be a gap payment for your surgery.
Other fees that may apply include anaesthetics and a hospital excess.
You will need to confirm with your health fund if you are covered for the surgery Dr Taylor has suggested. We will provide you with item numbers to facilitate this process.
If you do not have private health cover, we can provide you with an estimate of fees associated with your procedure. We can also arrange for you to be referred to your nearest public hospital after your appointment if necessary.
The closest parking to our rooms is located in The Wesley Hospital’s multi-storey car park.
You can enter the Sandford Jackson Building from the car park by taking the lift to level 7 and walking across the connection bridge from the main hospital.
The car park uses number plate recognition for payment, so please ensure you know your details to pay for parking before leaving the car park. Read more about The Wesley Hospital Visitor Parking.
Alternatively, street parking is also available; however, spots usually fill quickly.
Please allow plenty of time for parking to ensure you are on time for your appointment.
Should you require a procedure, you can book a time that suits with the reception staff following your appointment. Alternatively, you can book at a later date by phoning reception.
Dr Taylor works out of the Wesley on certain days, which change from week to week, but we will endeavour to find a time that best suits you and his availability.
Prior to your surgery, you will receive information regarding your procedure, consent forms and financial agreements. Please review these documents and complete any forms that may be required before arriving at the hospital.
If any pre-operative preparation is required, this will be clearly outlined with instructions on how to complete any tasks necessary. If anything is unclear, please call our rooms (07 3870 2300), and we will be more than happy to help clarify instructions.
If you are coming to The Wesley Hospital for a procedure, please make sure you have completed The Wesley Hospital Patient Registration.

Dr Taylor may recommend you have a colonoscopy prior to your surgery.
You may require a colonoscopy for the following reasons:
- Altered bowel habits, including bleeding, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, or a change in your usual bowel habit
- A family history of bowel cancer
- Unexplained weight loss
- A positive faecal occult blood test
- You are over the age of 50
After your appointment, you will be given a specific copy of instructions to complete prior to your procedure.
Should you lose this document, please contact our rooms on (07 3870 2300) so we can send you a new copy.
Yes. It is normal to have a small amount of bleeding after your operation.
Please refer to your post-operative instructions or call the rooms (07 3870 2300) if you are concerned.
If you have been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer, it is recommended that your first-degree relatives (mother/father/siblings/children) undergo screening colonoscopies.
